Happy Days Caffeine-Inspired Haven on Grand Cayman

by Anne Evans

Sure, there are plenty of food and beverage carts around the Island. However, how many can actually claim to make you “Happy” to visit? Well here is one:

HAPPY DAYS PADDLEBOARD & COFFEE

Open 7 am-2 pm 7 days a week.

I discovered Happy Days a couple of months ago when I was out on one of my daily morning “Trash Walks” (where I take a large bag and fill it with road side trash). It had set up on West Bay Road ─ which runs alongside 7 Mile Beach ─ and right across the street from a major construction site, the future La Covia.

What a gem! Here was a delightful little food and beverage truck that has transformed a small empty lot into a haven complete with umbrellas and picnic tables.

And indeed you can rent paddle boards – with access to 7 Mile Beach just a stone’s throw away by foot.

So, one Saturday morning I stopped for a coffee break and enjoyed the BEST cold brew coffee I have ever had! My entertainment as I sat at one of the picnic tables was watching the cranes across the street slowly swing against the bright blue morning sky and drifting puffy clouds.

I was hooked and am now a Saturday morning regular.

This morning during my coffee break, a huge cement truck pulled up. One of the fellows jumped out and began to review the menu as his partner executed a mid-street u-turn preparing to enter the construction site.

The fellow on the ground began to shout out the menu and prices to the driver in the truck. I couldn’t resist chiming in “It’s REALLY good!” In return I received a huge smile and a fist bump as he sent his partner a ‘Thumbs Up.” No doubt they both returned to make some purchases after their cement delivery.

Don’t pass up Happy Days – even if you are not a coffee drinker. My bet is that the smoothies, gelato and pastries are excellent as well.

If ai cannot solve a problem by baking a cookie, I cannot deal with it
