T’is the Season of Mango Mania!
This year was the 8th Annual Mango Festival on Grand Cayman which was held at the Cayman Islands National Museum (CINM) on Saturday July 5th.

CINM is not to be confused with the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands, which I have written about previously in “Our walk to the National Gallery of The Cayman Islands.
The CINM ─ and therefore the Festival ─ are right across the street from the waterfront port area.

It’s hard to believe that Hurricane Season is well underway given the gorgeous blue sky.
This annual celebration of the fruit is a great opportunity to sample different types of mangos and figure out what one’s favorite variety is, and Admission is free!

The festival this year yielded record crowds and featured mango-themed competitions, live cooking demos, local crafts, music, food, and fun. I had rather hoped to see someone dressed up as a Mango; alas, not so.

Of course, the Cayman Islands Department of Agriculture had a booth. They were ready to tout the virtues of Mangos as a food …

as well as provide instruction on how to graft and grow mangos.

The star of the show, however, were the edible mango products, food, and beverages.

Maybe next year I’ll come dressed as a Mango!
